The quality of German tap water is strictly controlled and regulated.
However, old pipes and plumbing, as well as chlorine and hot water systems, can easily turn your next sip into tasting anything but refreshing.

This is why the Mitte cartridges use an advanced two-stage filtration process to remove all the particles that don't belong in your drinking water:

Heavy Metals

Heavy metals like lead, chromium, mercury and cadmium can get into your water through old pipes and cheap fittings. Mitte cartridges reduce these particles to a large extent.

Microplastics

Microplastics can often be traced in German tap water, especially open groundwater systems are affected. Mitte cartridges reliably reduce microplastics.

Bacteria

Tap water contains bacteria such as E. coli despite the filtration and disinfection by water treatment plants. Bacteria can, in fact, be traced back to the filters used. Mitte cartridges eliminate this possibility by filtering your water twice.

Chlorine

In some German regions, tap water is chlorinated. The limit value is 0.3 ml, which primarily affects the taste. The activated carbon filter in our cartridges filters most of the chlorine out, leaving your water clean and fresh.

Your tap water's taste depends very much on the region and how it is purified. But pipes and plumbing can leave the water with a stale taste, too. Our activated carbon filter removes this negative impact from your water.

This is how it works:

Step 01

Activated Carbon Filter

During the filtration process, the water first passes through a layer of activated carbon, which removes impurities by adsorption, soaking them up, replicating a sponge effect.

The filter material is obtained from coconut shells, which is one of the most renewable materials used to make next-level filters.

Step 02

Hollow Fibre Membrane

Subsequently, the water flows through a high-quality hollow fibre membrane. This sheath consists of hundreds of tiny tubes that function like a fine sieve, further filtering out impurities.
